Region

GBRIA currently serves over 80 industrial manufacturing sites in 11 parishes: Ascension, East Baton Rouge, Iberville, Jefferson, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. Landry, St. James, St. John the Baptist, and West Baton Rouge.

  • Helped form the Louisiana Health Care Alliance – 1984 which continues today
  • Associated Builders and Contractors Skills Training – Sponsored Building of School – 1985-1990 continued today
  • Standardized Contractor Safety Orientation Training Program and Key Partnership with Safety Council– since 1991
  • Contractor Safety & Health Audit Program for Member PSM Compliance – since 1996
  • Contractor Safety Award Program Initiated – since 1997
  • Helped form the Association of Reciprocal Safety Councils – 1998 and ARSC continues today
  • Standardized Contractor Security Passport Program Developed – since 2004
  • Changed name and logo to GBRIA – 2005
  • Developed Contractor Workforce Development Awards – since 2007
  • Non-Fluent English Workers and Zero Incidents Safety Culture Guide – 2008
  • Hydro blasting CBT & Craft Training Program & New NCCER Text – 2010-2012 with training continuing today
  • Expansion of craft training from private to public model & doubled craft credentials produced in region – 2007-2014
  • Scaffold building Best Practices Guideline & new NCCER textbook published – 2013
  • Capital Region Industry for Sustainable Infrastructure Solutions (CRISIS) formed – 2015, major road improvements achieved
  • Established Community Awareness Emergency Response (CAER) regional network -2015-2018
  • Published Breathing Air Best Practice Guideline with Sticker Resource Tools 2017-2018
  • Established Industrial Tax Exemption (ITEP) Collaboration Group and Significantly Raised Awareness in the Community of Industry Value – 2018 (see www.gbria.org/itep) – moving to broader issues such as environmental activism
  • Launched Industry Makes – 2022
  • Appointed foundation manager, Louisiana Construction Education Foundation (LCEF) – 2024
