Louisiana Construction Education Foundation announces new leadership
BATON ROUGE, La. – The Louisiana Construction Education Foundation (LCEF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Connie P. Fabré as the foundation’s new President and CEO. Connie currently serves as President and CEO of the Greater Baton Rouge Industry Alliance (GBRIA), and GBRIA will now function as the managing organization of LCEF.
Fabré states, “The alignment of work we do at GBRIA and the purposes of LCEF will provide new opportunities to fund Louisiana educational programs in construction that lead to careers in industry and many other sectors of our economy.”
Since it began in 2009, LCEF has donated over $1 million to educational programs, including $100,000 in scholarships through the Jump Start Construction Connect Scholars program since 2020. The program is Louisiana’s only scholarship dedicated to help recent jump-start graduates who are enrolling full-time in a Louisiana Community and Technical College System Construction Pathway Program or an ABC training program the summer or fall after earning their high school diplomas.
LCEF’s15-year history, the depth of its active and passionate board members, and the leadership and partnership of Louisiana’s industrial sector, positions the foundation for a bright future.
With major projects expanding sustainable energy in Louisiana and across the country, the demand for a skilled construction workforce is rapidly increasing. “The growth is enormous, and these new investments will drive construction, not only for industry but also for municipal, infrastructure, housing and commercial development to support the growth,” says Fabré.
LCEF is uniquely positioned to direct funding to outstanding training programs and to help facilitate the development of new programs to attract and train more Louisianans to participate in these exciting opportunities.
